After years of fumbling the deck, with directors such as Rupert Wyatt and Doug Liman passing their hand, and following the news that Gore Verbinksi was in talks to direct, it appears that the Channing Tatum X-Men movie Gambit is gaining some real traction, this time in the form of some positive casting news.
Variety has exclusively revealed that Now You See Me 2, True Blood, Cloverfield, and Masters of Sex star Lizzy Caplan has signed on to play the female lead.
Like everything else about the movie, details on Caplan’s role remain a secret, but Gambit has been described as “the Ocean’s 11 of the comic book genre” and will reference X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men Apocalypse. Recently Tatum, for whom this has been a passion project for years, revealed they decided to readjust the film’s scope in the wake of Deadpool and Logan‘s success.
