Paramount+ have given a full series order to their TV adaptation of iconic 80s thriller Fatal Attraction and announced Emmy-nominated True Blood and Now You See Me star Lizzy Caplan as their iteration of Alex, the character made famous by Glenn Close with her bunny boiler antics.
The Fatal Attraction series will be written and executive produced by Dirty John‘s Alexandra Cunningham, who will also serve as showrunner.
The President of Paramount+ Original Scripted Series, Nicole Clemens said that the new series would bring an “incredibly strong and nuanced point of view to a story that became a cultural phenomenon, but has thus far only been told from the male gaze”.
The official synopsis reads that Fatal Attraction will be a “deep-dive reimagining of the classic psychosexual thriller and ’80s cultural touchstone, the new series will explore the timeless themes of marriage and infidelity, through the lens of modern attitudes towards strong women, personality disorders and coercive control. Lizzy Caplan stars as a woman who becomes obsessed with her lover after a brief affair.”
Fatal Attraction was a critical and commercial success when it was released in 1987, grossing a whopping $320M worldwide and earning six Oscar nominations. Let us know what you think about this remake and the casting of Caplan by heading to our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
