Locke & Key adds Laysla De Oliveira and Kevin Alves

February 7, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Netflix continues to fill out the cast of its IDW comic book adaptation Locke & Key, with Laysla De Oliveira (Needle in a Timestack) and Kevin Alves (Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments) have joined the horror fantasy TV series.

Based on the Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez comic book, Locke & Key revolves around three siblings who move with their mother to their ancestral home in Maine following the gruesome murder of their father, and soon discover that the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities. However, little do they know, a devious demon also wants the keys, and will stop at nothing to attain them.

De Oliveira has been cast in the series regular role as Dodge, “a beautiful, unpredictable and sinister demon in human form that torments the Locke family”, while Alves will recur as Javi, “the colorful life of the party who doesn’t take life too seriously. He does his best to try to persuade new friend Tyler Locke to do the same.”

The new additions join the previously announced Darby Stanchfield (Scandal) as Nina Locke and Jackson Robert Scott (It), Connor Jessup (American Crime) and Emilia Jones (Incident in a Ghostland) as the three Locke children. Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Meredith Averill (The Haunting of Hill House) serve as showrunners on the series, which has a 10-episode order.
