Variety is reporting that Ghost in the Shell producer Steven Paul is set to bring Koike Kazuo and Goseki Kojima’s manga Lone Wolf and Cub: Final Conflict to the big screen with an English language adaptation of the classic Japanese comic book.
Lone Wolf and Cub: Final Conflict “sees a noble samurai plotted against and framed in an assassination conspiracy the samurai disobeys his Shogun’s orders and becomes an assassin for hire.” Six Japanese films were produced from the property in the 1970s, with footage from the first two movies edited together for British and American audiences as Shogun Asssassin in 1980.
“I have been a huge fan of the property for many years and can’t tell you how excited I am to have the opportunity to embark on this journey,” said Paul, who went on to add that the film will feature an essentially Japanese cast and production will get underway next year.
