Lucifer’s sixth and final season will only consist of 10 episodes

September 13, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Lucifer fans received some good news back in June when it was announced that the Vertigo comic book adaptation had been renewed for a sixth – albeit final – season by Netflix.

However, as per TV Line, it seems the final season will be a short one and consist of just ten episodes, which will bring the series’ total tally to 93.

Lucifer halted production due to the global health crisis with its season five finale still to shoot, and filming on that episode will resume on September 24th, before the cast and crew move directly into season six.

Originally airing on Fox, Lucifer was cancelled by the network after three seasons before being revived for a fourth by Netflix after a successful #SaveLucifer fan campaign.

And, with the Tom Ellis-led drama proving a hit for the streamer, Lucifer then found a second wind, with Netflix ordering a fifth season (initially of 10 episodes, which was then expanded to 16) and a surprise sixth. The second half of season five is expected to arrive later this year.

Lucifer, bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals.

Lucifer is created by showrunners Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson and stars Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Rachael Harris, DB Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Aimee Garcia, Tricia Helfer, Scarlett Estevez, and Kevin Alejandro.
