Now that Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther has made his big screen debut, all eyes are on his upcoming solo film, which will be directed by Creed helmer Ryan Coogler and is set to hit theaters in 2018. Not many details are yet known about the project, but we now have our first big casting update!
According to THR, Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) is in talks to join the film, as the love interest to Boseman’s warrior King T’Challa. Who, exactly, that character is is being kept under wraps, and looking to the pages of Marvel Comics is unfortunately not much help, since T’Challa’s biggest love interest is Storm, who’s currently in the hands of 20th Century Fox and starring in their slate of X-Men films. So, feel free to speculate about the role in the comments below!
Black Panther will hit theaters on February 2nd, 2018.
