This isn’t Mikkelsen’s first brush with the MCU, as he originally signed on to play Malekith the Accursed in Thor: The Dark World, before a scheduling conflict forced him to drop out, with Christopher Eccleston then securing the role.
Doctor Strange is set for release on October 28, 2016 in the UK and November 4, 2016 in the US, with Scott Derrickson (Sinister) directing a cast that so far includes Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) as Stephen Strange, Tilda Swinton (Snowpiercer) as The Ancient One and Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) as Baron Mordo.
