Fresh off the hit horror Longlegs, actress Maika Monroe has been cast as the lead in 20th Century Studios’ remake of director Curtis Hanson’s 1992 psychological thriller The Hand That Rocks the Cradle.
The original film starred Rebecca De Mornay as a woman who suffers a miscarriage when her husband commits suicide after being exposed as a sex offender, and sets out for vengeance against his victim (Annabella Sciorra) by integrating herself into her family as a nanny.
The new film is being directed by Michelle Garza Cervera (Huesera: The Bone Woman) from a script by Micah Bloomberg (Homecoming), with Monroe taking on the role of the nanny character.
