Maisie Willaims, who starred on Game of Thrones, says many of the scripts she sees can’t hold a candle to the show.
HBO’s Game of Thrones became a phenomenon around the world thanks to its twists and turns, interesting characters, engaging dialogue, and now that it is over, it’s going to take quite some effort to surpass what it has achieved.
Maisie Williams, who starred as Arya Stark on the show, has told SFX Magazine [H/T Digital Spy] that often isn’t very impressed with the scripts she receives in comparison to what came her way on Game of Thrones:
“I read other scripts now and think, ‘This is trash!’ The stories are just not complex. And then sometimes you read a script which is definitely like 30 pages too long and you think, ‘But there’s still no twist!’
“It’s sometimes really difficult to find something that surprises you. I think that’s what the show has always done so well.”
She is certainly right that Game of Thrones never failed to surprise and shock its fans, right to the very end. Hopefully, Williams can get her hands on a few more scripts that can match the epic fantasy series.
