Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi set for Wuthering Heights

September 25, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Two of Hollywood’s brightest stars take on two of the most iconic literary characters.

Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights movie has found its iconic stars with Oscar-nominated actress and producer Margot Robbie and BAFTA-nominated actor Jacob Elordi.

Deadline reports that Robbie is set to star as Catherine Earnshaw and Elordi will play Heathcliff. At the time of writing, the plot details of Fennell’s adaptation are unknown.

MRC has tapped the stars, while LuckyChap will also produce Fennell’s upcoming feature film. For those keeping track, this project marks LuckyChap and Fennell’s third collaboration following Promising Young Woman and Saltburn. Fennell will also reteam with one of her Saltburn leading men, Jacob Elordi.

Wuthering Heights is considered a classic of English literature and has seen multiple adaptations. A 1939 film directed by William Wyler starred Laurence Olivier as Heathcliff and Merle Oberon as Catherine. There’s also a 1992 film with Ralph Fiennes and a 2009 TV Mini-Series starring Tom Hardy. The most recent came from Andrea Arnold, which starred Kaya Scodelario and James Howson.

Wuthering Heights is in pre-production, prepping for a UK shoot in 2025.
