Maria Sten joins DC’s Swamp Thing as Liz Tremayne

September 9, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Maria Sten (Channel Zero, Straight Outta Compton) has joined DC Universe’s upcoming live-action Swamp Thing series and will portray the character of Liz Tremayne.

Swamp Thing follows Abby Arcane (Crystal Reed), who investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets.

Liz Tremayne is described as “a close childhood friend of Abby Arcane’s, who splits her time between reporting for the local paper and bartending at her aging father’s roadhouse bar. Her no-nonsense attitude belies a deep compassion for her friends and family as she sets out in her uncompromising quest to expose the secrets that threaten her beloved hometown.”

Len Wiseman is set to direct the Swamp Thing pilot, which has been written by Gary Dauberman and Mark Verheiden. Wiseman, Dauberman and Verheiden also serve as executive producers alongside Michael Clear and Aquaman director James Wan.
