According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar winner Marion Cotillard is in talks to join Brad Pitt in a new World War II drama for director Robert Zemeckis.
Paramount Pictures and New Regency are making the film, which is reportedly a romantic drama, and is being directed by Zemeckis from a script by Steven Knight (Locke). The film will see Cotillard and Pitt play assassins in the film who eventually fall for each other during a mission in Casablanca. They marry, but soon Pitt’s character discovers that Cotillard’s agent is actually a double agent working for the German government. Think Mr. and Mrs. Smith but set in 1944.
Set to shoot next year, the film will travel to London, Canada and Casablanca during production. Cotillard will next be seen in the eagerly-anticipated Macbeth opposite Michael Fassbender; Zemeckis’ new film, The Walk, debuts in the fall.
