Mark-Paul Gosselaar to lead Fox vampire pilot The Passage

June 4, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Back in January it was announced that Fox had placed a pilot order for a TV adaptation of Justin Cronin’s post-apocalyptic vampire book trilogy The Passage, and now Variety has revealed that Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Saved By the Bell, Pitch) has secured the lead role, and will star alongside Saniyya Sidney, Genesis Rodriguez, Brianne Howey, BJ Britt and Jennifer Ferrin.

The Passage spans a century and is told across two timelines and focuses on Amy Bellafonte (Sidney), a ten-year-old girl who must save the human race. Gosselaar will portray an FBI agent who balks at kidnapping Amy, who has been targeted for an unholy government experiment and goes on the run with her with a veritable army of feds on his heels.

The pilot has been written by Elizabeth Heldens (Deception), who is executive producing with Ridley Scott (Alien: Covenant) and Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes).
