Back in March of this year, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn suggested that Marvel Studios would be absent from the San Diego-Comic Con International this July, and now Deadline is reporting that the Marvel has indeed decided to skip Hall H this year. However, if you’re worried that there’ll be a lack of superheroes on display, then fear not as Warner Bros. is planning a “significant presentation” for its slate of DC movies.
According to the site, Warner’s showcase will include Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, along with Wonder Woman and Justice League Part One. As part of the panel, it’s expected that the likes of Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Will Smith will be in attendance, and you’d have to image WB will be keen to get as many cast members from Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad onto the stage as possible.
Marvel will certainly be a miss in Hall H, but considering the studio has already made its big Phase Three announcements and would realistically only have Ant-Man (and potentially some early Captain America: Civil War footage) to showcase, it’s probably a wise move to make way for Warner’s DC universe to avoid being overshadowed by its superhero rivals.
