Diamond Comic Distributors has releasing their annual end-of-year sales rankings for the comic book industry, which continued its upward trend in 2014 as sales increased 4.39% over the previous twelve months.
The year was dominated by Marvel, who led the charts in terms of both dollar and unit market share (34.38% and 36.78% respectively), as well as having nine of the top ten bestselling titles of the year, including the year’s biggest title Amazing Spider-Man #1, all four issues of the Death of Wolverine, Rocket Raccoon #1, Thor #1, Original Sin #1, and Superior Spider-Man #31.

In total, Marvel occupied 53 spots in the top 100, compared to DC Entertainment’s 43. DC was the number two publisher of the year, with a 28.86% dollar share and 32.47% unit share, while it’s bestseller of the year was Batman #32, which came in 14th.
Image Comics enjoyed healthy sales on the graphic novel front, taking nine of the top ten graphic novel spots (with Saga Vol. 3 the bestselling graphic novel of the year), and was the year’s third biggest publisher, followed by IDW in fourth and Dark Horse in fifth.
