Marvel Studios has officially announced the start of production on its Disney+ original series Echo, which will see Alaqua Cox reprising her role as Maya Lopez from last year’s Hawkeye series.
The logline for the series states that Echo will “revisit Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behaviour in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.”
In addition to the above first look image of Cox back in character, Marvel also announced the cast for the series, with Zahn McClarnon reprising his own Hawkeye role as Maya’s father William Lopez alongside Chaske Spencer (Wild Indian), Tantoo Cardinal (Killers of the Flower Moon), Devery Jacobs (Reservation Dogs), Cody Lightning (Four Sheets to the Wind) and Graham Greene (1883) in as-yet-unrevealed roles. Sydney Freeland (Navajo) and Catriona McKenzie (Gunaikurnai) are directing the series, while Marion Dayre (Better Call Saul) serves as showrunner.

The official announcement makes no mention as to whether Vincent D’Onofrio will be back as Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. the Kingpin, although the synopsis would suggest that’s almost certainly going to be the case. Whether we might see any other familiar faces, such as Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton or Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, we’ll have to wait for the leaks…
