It seems that next year’s Captain Marvel movie may open the floodgates for female-fronted instalments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We already know that Marvel is developing a solo movie for Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, and now comes word from Kevin Feige that a Ms. Marvel movie “is definitely sort of in the works.”
“Captain Marvel‘s shooting right now with Brie Larson,” said Feige. “Ms. Marvel, which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel, is definitely sort of in the works. We have plans for that once we introduce Captain Marvel to the world.”

Created by Sana Amanat, Stephen Wacker, G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona, Kamala Khan made her debut in 2013’s Captain Marvel before getting her own solo series in 2014, becoming the first Muslim character to headline a Marvel book.
It’s long been rumoured that Marvel has plans for Ms. Marvel, with previous reports claiming that John Ridley’s secret Marvel Television project was based around the character. If those rumours were true, we’d have to assume the project has now been shelved in favour of movie appearances. Whether that is through her own solo film, a Captain Marvel sequel, or some other kind of team up movie, we’ll just have to wait and see…
