Marvel has regained all live-action rights to the previously owned Netflix characters, including Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, as it is being reported that the rights for Jessica Jones and The Punisher have now reverted back to Marvel.
As reported by ComicBook.com, the multi-year deal between Marvel and Netflix has officially come to an end as the remaining Marvel heroes are back with Marvel. The deal between the two companies effectively ended back in 2019 when Netflix cancelled all of its Marvel shows – which was rumoured to be the result of the announcement of the Disney+ streaming service. However, Netflix contractually held onto the rights for all five major characters for a further two-year period.
It is currently unclear what Marvel will do with these characters moving forward or if Jon Bernthal and Krysten Ritter will eventually reprise their roles as The Punisher and Jessica Jones respectively under the Marvel Studios banner. Recent rumours have claimed that Ritter could be set to appear in Marvel’s She-Hulk series, while there’s also been talk that Charlie Cox may be reprising his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 3, but as yet these reports are unconfirmed.
How do you think Marvel Studios should incorporate these characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Would you like to see Jon Bernthal and Krysten Ritter reprise their respective roles in the future? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter @flickeringmyth…
