Marvel Television lives! Well, sort of, as Hulu has granted a season two-renewal to the animated series Hit-Monkey, with 20th Television Animation taking over producing duties on the Marvel Comics adaptation.
Created by Will Speck and Josh Gordon and based on the comic book of the same name, Hit-Monkey was produced as part of the old Jeph Loeb-led Marvel Television’s multi-show deal with Hulu, of which only it and M.O.D.O.K. ultimately saw the light of day. The Patton Oswalt-led M.O.D.O.K. was summarily executed by Hulu back in May, cancelled after a single season.
The series follows a Japanese snow monkey who kills his way through the yakuza underworld on a quest for vengeance alongside the ghost of American assassin Bryce Fowler. The second season will see them journeying to New York City, with Fred Tatasciore (Hit-Monkey), Jason Sudeikis (Bryce), Olivia Munn (Akiko Yokohama) and Ally Maki (Haruka) all set to return to voice their respective characters with Leslie Jones also joining for an as-yet-unannounced role.

Marvel Television was closed down by Disney in 2019, two years before Hit-Monkey’s eventual premiere on Hulu, with Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios subsequently taking over producing duties on all Marvel television output since that point and bringing it fully in line with the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe.
