It’s fair to say that the reaction to Marvel and Netflix’s Daredevil was resoundingly positive, having just become the highest rated show on the streaming service. With a second season already announced, new rumours have surfaced about possible new titles for Phase Two of the Marvel Netflix Universe.
According to El Mayimbe over at Heroic Hollywood, Marvel are planning on making shows based around The Punisher (previously rumoured) as well as Ghost Rider and Blade. The rumour-hound however notes that Marvel are “afraid” the amount of CGI needed to make Ghost Rider look good could make the show “goofy” and that the show’s “hard PG-13” rating could be a detriment to each character. Mayimbe also claims that these characters could appear in other Netflix shows like Daredevil, AKA Jessica Jones and The Defenders, which would then be used as backdoor pilots similar to The Flash in Arrow over at DC.
Another claim is that Marvel want Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange to appear in The Defenders when that show hits Netflix in 2017.
Lastly, he also mentions that Marvel are keen on the idea of doing a mini-series or feature based on Hawkeye or Black Widow. However, he does say that “the planets would need to align” in order for that to come to fruition.
What are your thoughts on Marvel’s Netflix output? Would you like to see shows based on The Punisher, Ghost Rider, Blade, Hawkeye and Black Widow?
