Some of Disney and Marvel Studios recent forays onto the small screen have been so impressive in scope that they wouldn’t look out of place at the multiplex. Well, Marvel appear to agree when it comes to their intended six-part War Machine series because news has broken that Armor Wars is being redeveloped as a feature film.
The Hollywood Reporter say that the move was made because the studio was committed in getting the story told the right way and in that process realised that a feature was better suited for the project. They also confirm that this will be a theatrical release, and not a Disney+ movie.
Armor Wars will see Don Cheadle back as James Rhodes, a.k.a. War Machine, as he faces up to Tony Stark’s worst fear – his technology falling into the wrong hands. Cheadle’s character will be seen next in Marvel’s Secret Invasion.
Comedian and writer Yassir Lester (Girls) remains onboard as head writer, while there is no word yet on a director.
The bad news is that this pushes Armor Wars further down an already crowded production slate, but on the plus-side, for fans of all things MCU it means another big-screen superhero adventure to look forward to.
