Deadline is reporting that Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series Ironheart has began production, with the show also adding Manny Montana (Good Girls) to its cast in an as-yet-unrevealed series regular role.
Marvel’s Ironheart is based on the comic book of the same name and will see Dominique Thorne (If Beale Street Could Talk) leading the cast in the title role as Riri Williams, an engineering prodigy and super-genius who builds her very own advanced Iron Man suit using stolen campus materials.
Thorne’s Riri Williams is set to make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut ahead of the Ironheart series, with the character set to feature in November’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Along with Thorne and Montana, Ironheart also features Lyric Ross (This Is Us) and Anthony Ramos (In the Heights), with the latter believed to be portraying the main villain. Chinaka Hodge (Amazing Stories, Snowpiercer) serves as head writer on the six-episode series while Sam Bailey (Brown Girls) and Angela Barnes (Mythic Quest) directing.
Ironheart is coming to Disney+ in 2023.
