Over the past couple of months, Marvel has announced two huge additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Jon Bernthal (Fury) set to play Frank Castle / The Punisher and Elodie Yung (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) nabbing the role of Elektra in the upcoming second season of the hit Netflix show Daredevil.

Speaking to IGN, Marvel’s chief creative officer Joe Quesada has been discussing the casting of the two popular characters.
On The Punisher: “We’re so happy to have Jon Bernthal because we have such a world-class cast on Daredevil; we have a world-class actor in Charlie Cox that we want to make sure we chose and were able to attain an actor who is on that same level so I think the combination of seeing Charlie and John perform those parts on the same screen. It’s going to be epic, absolutely epic.
On Elektra: “We scoured the world for the right Elektra and, man, she is the character. She looks like the character, she walks like the character, and then she has the martial arts training and stunt background that she can rely on. It’s going to be really, really awesome to see her take over the role and see how she embodies and how she personifies Elektra.”
The second season of Daredevil will land on Netflix in 2016, with a cast that includes Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle/The Punisher), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple) and Elodie Yung (Elektra).
