Nick Fury himself has announced the start of production on the Disney+ series Marvel’s Secret Invasion as Samuel L. Jackson took to Instagram promising he’s “back with a fury” in the new series.
Little is known about the series, but it seems it will take inspiration from the Secret Invasion storyline where the Avengers discovered several heroes and other people of Earth had been replaced by the shape-shifting Skrulls as they infiltrated the planet. Unlike that comic which saw the Avengers and even villains united against the Skrulls, Marvel has previously confirmed that the series won’t be an all-encompassing MCU event like Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

The last audiences saw of Nick Fury was in the post-credits scene for Spider-Man: Far From Home, where it was revealed Captain Marvel‘s Talos, the leader of the surviving Skrulls, had been posing as Fury for the entire film while Fury was in space with other Skrulls on a secret mission. The end of WandaVision teased this as he sent an agent to recruit Monica Rambeau for whatever mission he’s on.
Marvel’s Secret Invasion will run for six episodes and stars Jackson as Fury, Ben Mendohlson reprising his role as Talos, Kingsley Ben-Adir (One Night in Miami) as the main villain, Olivia Colman (The Crown), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Killian Scott (Dublin Murders) and Christopher McDonald (Happy Gilmore). Directing the series is Thomas Bezucha (Let Him Go) and Ali Selim (The Looming Tower).
Marvel’s Secret Invasion will premiere in 2022.
