News from Variety concerning Relativity Media, who filed for bankruptcy last week, and their upcoming comedy Masterminds, which was due for release this summer only to be bumped back to October. Now, it seems that in the wake of the financial woes, the film won’t be released at all.
Last week, the company headed by Ryan Kavanaugh, had stated that the film was going to come out as planned in October, but Variety has learned that the film has been “indefinitely postponed” with no word as to when we may see the film theatrically, if at all.
The film, which stars Kristen Wiig (Anchorman 2), Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover), Owen Wilson (Zoolander 2) and Jason Sudeikis (We’re The Millers), has been getting some very positive buzz in the lead up to its release, but it seems it will now sit on the shelf.
Relativity filed for bankruptcy after building up debt to its creditors to the tune of almost $90 million.
