Nicholas Galitzine’s He-Man has been seen on set, so we know Masters of the Universe is currently filming, but we are still discovering new cast members.
Sasheer Zamata as Suzie, Jon Xue Zhang as Ram-Man, and Christian Vunipola as Hussein are entering the production. They join the latest additions of James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley as King Randor and Queen Marlena, the monarchs of Eternia and parents to Prince Adam/He-Man.
Directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings) from a script written by Chris Butler (Paranorman), Masters of the Universe will finally bring the world of the cherished Mattel action figure back to the big screen. The toy brand famously launched the franchise with action figures that debuted in 1982. A year later, the animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe premiered in syndication and became a smash hit.
Zamata is a former Saturday Night Live cast member who recently appeared on Marvel’s Agatha All Along. Zhang is best known for a recurring role on Netflix’s The Brothers Sun alongside Michelle Yeoh, while Vunipola appeared in Miguel Wants to Fight and Queenpins.
Masters of the Universe will star Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto.
The film is set to hit theaters exclusively on June 5, 2026.
