As Universal prepares to continue the Bourne franchise with an as-yet-untitled fifth entry – and second outing for Jeremy Renner’s Aaron Cross – Matt Damon has once again spoken about the possibility of him reprising the role of super spy Jason Bourne, should The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum helmer Paul Greengrass return to the franchise.
“I’ve always been open to it if Paul Greengrass is the director, we’ve just never been able to come up with a story,” Damon told CNBC. “[The Bourne Ultimatum] felt like such a good way to end it last time. Having said that, I love that character. I’d love to see what happened to him.”
Bourne 5 is currently slated for release on August 14th, 2015, with Justin Lin (Fast & Furious 6) attached to direct. Presumably cameras will start rolling once Renner finishes up shooting Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Would you like to see Damon back for a fourth outing as Bourne? Or is Universal right to continue building the whole Aaron Cross storyline? Let us know your thoughts…
