Oppenheimer finally put Christopher Nolan’s name in gold with multiple Academy Award wins, and now he’s prepping his next movie.
Deadline reports that Nolan has entered the early stages of a new blockbuster, still untitled. As usual, plot details are being kept secret. Rumors have characterized this film as a “father-and-son” story. The film will reportedly be released on July 17, 2026, on Imax.
Who will topline a Christopher Nolan film is always the subject of much discussion, and this new film has a big name attached. Deadline has Matt Damon joining Nolan in this project, marking their third collaboration. Damon also appeared in 2014’s Interstellar before having a supporting role in last year’s Oppenheimer. The actor could join Christian Bale and Cillian Murphy as actors who worked with Nolan on at least three occasions.
Nolan is set to return to Universal for this, the studio that he just worked on to land him seven Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, and acting prizes for Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. Oppenheimer was also a box office force, grossing $328.9 million at the domestic box office and $975.6 million worldwide.
This untitled project from Nolan is expected to shoot in early 2025, so stay tuned for more news on casting.
