With Disney consuming IP at the same rate Homer Simpson eats pink-frosted donuts, it will come as no surprise to learn that the Mouse House are planning to take you on another big-screen tour of Springfield, with The Simpsons creator Matt Groening confirming that “there will be another Simpsons movie one of these days” during his appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con.
It took over fifteen years for America’s first family to leap from the sofa to the big-screen with 2007’s The Simpsons Movie, which was met with largely positive reviews, and over $500 million at the global box-office. It’s nearing that milestone since the first film was released, a gap which Groening puts down to the fact “The first Simpsons Movie almost killed us”, but he continued to say that following the acquisition of 20th Century Fox, “Disney wants something for its money”.
The Simpsons has become a show that we almost take for granted, so would you be excited to see the heavily syndicated family quintet given another extended adventure at the cinema, or are you happy for them to remain on the small-screen.
