Having signed on to the project early last summer following Ben Affleck’s exit from the director’s chair, Matt Reeves has spent the best part of the last year working on the script for The Batman, Warner Bros. and DC Films’ planned Dark Knight solo movie.
Well, it is now being reported that the War for the Planet of the Apes helmer has completed his first draft of the screenplay and delivered it to the studio.

Given that El Mayimbe is the source here, there’s a good chance this is just speculation, but Reeves did state back at the start of August that he expected to have the script finished within a couple of weeks, and – all going to plan – he hoped to begin shooting the movie in the spring of 2019.
At this point, we have very little in the way of concrete information on Reeves’ plans for The Batman. We don’t even know who’ll be donning the cape and cowl, with Ben Affleck seemingly destined to follow Henry Cavill out of the DCEU door and several actors linked to the role (albeit by dubious sources), including the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal, Jack Huston, Jon Hamm and Kit Harington.
Hopefully, with the script now said to be complete, it won’t be long before we start getting some official information…
