Matt Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, War for the Planet of the Apes) and his 6th & Idaho production company are set to produce a feature film adaptation of Clifford D. Simak’s Hugo Award-winning sci-fi novel Way Station for Netflix.
Via Deadline, the official logline for Way Station reads:
For more than 100 years Enoch Wallace has been the keeper of a Way Station on Earth for intergalactic alien travelers as they teleport across the universe. But the gifts of knowledge and immortality that his intergalactic guests have bestowed upon him are proving to be a nightmarish burden, for they have opened Enoch’s eyes to humanity’s impending destruction. Still, one final hope remains for the human race.
Reeves’ 6th & Idaho has a first look producing deal with Netflix, and are working on a number of other projects for the streamer including Animal Farm, Button Man, Idol, and Recursion. Reeves will next get back behind the camera as director on Warner Bros. and DC Films’ The Batman, which is set for release in 2021.
