Although the project was absent from Warner Bros.’ recent DC Films slate announcement, it looks like we may be getting some casting news for Chris McKay’s Nightwing film this February. A fan on Twitter brought up the topic of casting, to which McKay replied his estimate for when we can expect the big news:

Over the last few months, lots of names have been brought up as potential picks to play Dick Grayson. So far, we’ve seen Zac Efron, Steven Yeun, Finn Wittrock, Nick Jonas and Dacre Montgomery associated with the role to some degree. However, casting for the film might not prove that easy. McKay has mentioned before that he wants the actor playing Nightwing to perform all of his own stunts, and has announced an open-casting call for the role. Some of the above-mentioned names are merely rumors, or fan picks. Dacre Montgomery, however, teased the character via social media. Though, given the trend in recent years for actors to use social media as a platform to campaign for roles, his tease could be just that. Likely, the role will go to an unknown. After all, it has very specific requirements; something not every actor can fill.
Nightwing is rumored to start filming in 2018.
