Bleecker Street has released the first trailer for their upcoming romantic comedy What Happens Later, the second directorial offering from Meg Ryan following 2015’s Ithaca, and her first on-screen appearance since.
What Happens Later is based on the stage play Shooting Star, by playwright Steven Dietz, who has adapted the story for the screen and co-wrote the script with Ryan and fellow playwright Kirk Lynn.
The film finds genre stalwart Ryan (When Harry Met Sally) starring alongside David Duchovny (The X-Files) as Willa and Bill, two ex-lovers who find themselves snowed in at an airport together overnight. Check out the trailer below…
Two ex lovers, Bill (David Duchovny) and Willa (Meg Ryan) get snowed in at a regional airport overnight. Indefinitely delayed, Willa, a magical thinker, and Bill, a catastrophic one, find themselves just as attracted to and annoyed by one another as they did decades earlier. But as they unpack the riddle of their mutual past and compare their lives to the dreams they once shared, they begin to wonder if their reunion is mere coincidence, or something more enchanted.
