Megan Mullally boards cast of Why Him co-starring alongside Bryan Cranston and James Franco

January 15, 2016 by William Fanelli

John Hamburg’s forthcoming comedy Why Him has just added Megan Mullally to its cast. The film, which is slated for release later this year, already boasts the likes of Bryan Cranston and James Franco.

According to Deadline, Why Him follows Ned (Cranston), a good old American Midwestern dad, as he ventures out on a trip with his wife (Mullally) to visit their daughter at college. Upon arriving, he meets her cocky tech billionaire boyfriend (Franco) and the two ultimately square off.

Hamburg, who’s taking on both writing and directing duties for Why Him, has an impressive resume in comedy, on both the big and small screen. Among his other writing and directing credits are cult series’ Undeclared and Stella as well as hit films like I Love You, Man and the Meet the Parents & Zoolander franchises. Shooting for Why Him is set to begin in Los Angeles in February.

Mullally had a recurring role in NBC’s Parks and Recreation, which concluded its seven season run last year. She currently has a starring role in Adult Swim’s Childrens Hospital and voices Gayle in the animated series Bob’s Burgers. She can be seen in the upcoming comedy series You, Me and the Apocalypse, premiering January 28 on NBC.
