Dead Snow and Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters helmer Tommy Wirkola has tapped Mel Gibson and Colin Farrell to star in his new film War Pigs, an action thriller set up at Millennium Films.
Based on a script by Nick Ball and John Niven which was previously titled The Takedown, the film will follow a group of disillusioned ex-marines who embark on one last mission for revenge against a drug cartel who murdered one of their own, while stealing millions of dollars of drug money.
Norwegian filmmaker Wirkola most recently directed What Happened to Monday, a Netflix sci-fi thriller starring Noomi Rapace, Glenn Close and Willem Dafoe.
Production on War Pigs is slated to begin in October, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Wahradian of di Bonaventura Productions producing alongside Avi Lerner and Matt Berenson of Millennium Films.
