Could Michael B. Jordan suit up in another superhero costume? If reports are accurate, we could see Jordan playing a version of the Man of Steel in a new Superman series.
A report from Collider notes Michael B. Jordan’s production company Outlier Society is developing a new Superman project for HBO Max. It will reportedly follow the Val-Zod version of Superman, which is the Superman of DC’s Earth 2. Val-Zod was created by Tom Taylor, Nicola Scott, and Robson Rocha in 2014.
Reports also suggest that along with producing, Jordan could also star in the series in the Val-Zod role. This would mark the actor’s third time playing a superhero, as he played Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four and Killmonger in Black Panther.
It’s interesting to note that Jordan has previously commented on the topic of a Black Superman. When news broke that J.J. Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates are developing a project featuring a black Clark Kent, Jordan said he was flattered by rumours linking him to the title role and told The Hollywood Reporter that:
“It’s important for people to see themselves in roles that they normally wouldn’t see. What that does to the next generation, to a kid or somebody that didn’t think that is something that they could achieve — now they’re thinking about it and daydreaming about it.”
At the time of writing, Outlier Society or HBO Max have not responded to these reports on the new Superman project, but be sure to let us know your thoughts on our social channels @flickeringmyth…
