It looks like Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Creed will be getting back in the ring to defend his World Heavyweight Championship as Rocky and Creed producer Irwin Winkler has confirmed to Deadline that Creed IV is in the works.
“We are planning to do Creed IV right now,” said Winkler during a panel to promote Creed III as part of Deadline’s Contenders Film: Los Angeles event this past weekend. “We have a really good story [and] a really good plot. We got a little delayed because of the strikes, but about a year from now we’re going into pre-production.”
Winkler also went on to praise Michael B. Jordan’s directing work on Creed III, the star’s feature directorial debut, and confirmed that he’ll also be back behind the camera for the next chapter in the Rocky spinoff series, stating: “He will be [directing]. He did such a great job [with Creed III] – he was comfortable with the camera.”
Spinning out of the Rocky series (and with Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa sitting out the most recent instalment), the Creed movies follow Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis, the son of Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), and the first three entries have grossed a combined $663 million worldwide.
