Back in October came the rather surprising news that Michael Bay is set to produce a live-action adaptation of Dora the Explorer, and now we have a release date for the movie.
According to The Wrap, Paramount Pictures has set an August 2nd 2019 release date for the film, which is being scripted by Nicholas Stoller (The Muppets, Bad Neighbours).
Unlike the Nick Jr. series, the live-action movie will feature a teenage Dora rather than a seven-year-old, and sees her moving to the city to live with her cousin Diego, at which point presumably they’ll embark on some sort of adventure.
An educational animated series, Dora the Explorer ran for eight seasons between 2000 and 2014, with 172 episodes in total.
Having called time on his Transformers series with last year’s Transformers: The Last Knight, Michael Bay is yet to announce his next directorial project, although he is said to be circling a Lobo movie for Warner Bros. and DC Films.
