Director Michael Dougherty is currently deep in post-production on the Godzilla sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but it seems the filmmaker already has one eye on his next project – and it may be the long-rumoured sequel to the cult anthology horror Trick ‘r Treat!
“My hope is that once [Godzilla: King of the Monsters] has been put to rest that I can dive back into [Trick ‘r Treat 2],” said Dougherty on Mick Garris’ Post Mortem podcast. “It’s currently the first week of October, so obviously my mind is drifting back to it. I would love to finish writing it in post-production [of Godzilla], and then I’d love to make it my next project. But we’ll see.”
Trick ‘r Treat was released back in 2007 and featured four Halloween-related stories, all of which featured an appearance from the mysterious trick-or-treater Sam. The sequel was first announced by Dougherty back in 2013.
