Michael Douglas and Christoph Waltz are set to portray U.S. President Ronald Reagan and President of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev in a limited series adaptation of Ken Adelman’s book Reagan at Reykjavik: Forty-Eight Hours That Ended the Cold War.
Titled Reagan & Gorbachev, the project is being produced by Paramount Television Studios and will explore a weekend that changed the world, presenting a dramatic account of the historic 1986 Reagan-Gorbachev summit in Iceland – a key turning point in the Cold War.
Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed helmer James Foley is set to direct the series, as well as producing with Douglas and Waltz. With the two leads on board, Paramount now plans to shop the package to broadcasters and streaming services, with interested expected to be high.
