Searchlight Pictures has released a brand new trailer for Taika Waititi’s feel-good soccer-comedy Next Goal Wins, in which the director reveals that he went into this film knowing nothing about soccer, and by the end of it he knew even less. A true story of “triumph over adversity” in which Michael Fassbender’s coach has to manage the worst set of players he has ever come across, you can check out the trailer below…
Based on the 2014 documentary of the same name by Steve Jamison, and Mike Brett, Next Goal Wins has been written by Waititi and The Inbetweeners creator Iain Morris, and includes an all-star starting line-up of actors that include Michael Fassbender, Elisabeth Moss, Oscar Kightley, Uli Latukefu, Rachel House, Kaimana, David Fane, Beulah Koale, Chris Alosio, Taika Waititi, Will Arnett, and Rhys Darby.

Next Goal Wins follows the American Samoa soccer team, infamous for their brutal 31-0 FIFA loss in 2001. With the World Cup Qualifiers approaching, the team hires down-on-his-luck, maverick coach Thomas Rongen (Michael Fassbender) hoping he will turn the world’s worst soccer team around in this heartfelt underdog comedy.
Next Goal Wins kicks off in cinemas from November 17th.
