Back in April it was announced that Michael Keaton was in talks with Marvel about taking on the a villain role in next year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, before negotiations fell apart. Well, Entertainment Weekly is now reporting that the Batman star is back on board and in final talks to board the project.
Details on his character are being kept under wraps, but Joblo is reporting that previous speculation about The Vulture is accurate and Adrian Toomes will be the main villain, aided by The Tinkerer, “who will help him build his suit with recovered Chitauri tech from the Battle of New York.”
It’s certainly more believable than this morning’s rumour about Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin making an appearance.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is being directed by Jon Watts (Cop Car) and sees Tom Holland (Peter Parker/Spider-Man), Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man) and Marisa Tomei (Aunt May) reprising their roles from Captain America: Civil War alongside Zendaya (K.C. Undercover), Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel) and Laura Harrier (One Life to Live). It is set for release on July 7th 2017.
