Michael Keaton thinks the “ship may have sailed” on Beetlejuice 2

July 31, 2016 by Gary Collinson

For a while in 2014, it seemed that the stars were aligning for Beetlejuice 2, with director Tim Burton and stars Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder seemingly on board for a follow-up to the 1988 fantasy comedy.

However, back in May of this year, Burton stated that “there’s nothing concrete yet”, and now Michael Keaton has indicated that the “ship may have sailed” on the sequel during an interview with Variety.

“No. Zero,” said Keaton when asked if he knows anything about the project. “You always hear things, that this is happening, and people seem to know more about it than I do. It’s possible that ship has sailed. The only way to do it is to do it right. So much of it was improvised and so much was beautifully handmade by the artist that is Tim Burton. If you can’t get close to that, you leave it alone.”

Keaton is currently gearing up to appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is set for release next year, while Tim Burton’s next film Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will open in September.
