Yesterday a rumour surfaced suggesting that Stranger Things star David Harbour is testing for the role of Cable in 20th Century Fox’s Deadpool sequel, and now Collider has unearthed another name who was apparently under consideration at the studio.
According to the site, Michael Shannon was previously said to be in the mix for the role of Nathan Summers, but is no longer in the running due to scheduling conflicts. Shannon does of course have previous comic book movie experience, having portrayed the villainous General Zod in 2013’s Man of Steel.
Collider’s report also goes on to state that Harbour has screen tested alongside Ryan Reynolds, and is definitely a contender for the part.
There’s been intense speculation over the casting of Cable since his inclusion in Deadpool 2 was confirmed in the post-credits scene of the first movie; the likes of Stephen Lang (Don’t Breathe) and Ron Perlman (Hellboy) have expressed an interest, while rumours have also liked Bloodline’s Kyle Chandler and former 007 Pierce Brosnan to the part.
