Golden Globe winner Michelle Williams has confirmed that she is returning to the sequel to Sony’s Venom, reprising her role as Anne Weying.
In a recent interview with Yahoo, the topic of Venom 2 was brought up, to which Williams responded with “I’m in.”
Later in the interview, Williams began praising the new director Andy Serkis for his accomplishments as a motion capture icon, before taking on the role of a director.
“I’m such a fan of Andy’s, and I’m so inspired by what he’s been able to accomplish,” Williams said regarding Serkis. “He’s so gifted in such a specific way, and I’m very excited to learn from him and be around him.”
This announcement comes shortly after the confirmation that Andy Serkis has signed on to direct the sequel with Tom Hardy is not only returning as Eddie Brock but co-writing the script alongside Kelly Marcel.

Serkis directed Breathe and Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, which was released on Netflix late last year. However, he is best known for playing Gollum in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and Caesar in the recent Planet of the Apes films. It’s unclear at this point whether or not Serkis will be playing a role or doing any kind of motion capture in Venom 2 as well.
