According to Deadline, Millennium Films is looking to capitalise on the success of Wonder Woman by bringing its own comic book heroine to the big screen with a feature film adaptation of Sheena, Queen of the Jungle.
The first female comic book character to have her own title, Sheena, Queen of the Jungle was created by Will Eisner and Jerry Iger, and debuted in 1937, pre-dating Wonder Woman by four years. An orphan stranded in Africa following the death of her explorer father, Sheena is raised by a witch doctor and learns the ways of the jungle, using her skills to fight evil.
Sheena, Queen of the Jungle first hit the screen in 1955 with a 25-episode TV series starring Irish McCalla. A feature film was released in 1984 with Tanya Roberts in the title role, while Gena Lee Nolin portrayed the character on the small screen in Sheena, which airs between 2000 and 2002.
