UK box office top ten and analysis for the weekend of Friday 26th June to Sunday 28th June 2015…
Universal Pictures continued its stellar box office run this past weekend with the release of the Despicable Me spinoff Minions, which dethroned Jurassic World at the top of the UK chart with a solid opening weekend of £11,558,946. That’s a record for the franchise, surpassing the £9.95 million debut of Despicable Me 2, and the biggest ever three-day opening for an animated film on these shores.

In other good news for Universal, Jurassic World pushed its UK haul to £48.9 million and counting, making it the biggest UK release of the year, and indeed the biggest film since The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey back in late 2012/early 2013.
In addition to Minions, two other newcomers cracked the top ten this week, with the Eli Roth-helmed Keanu Reeves thriller Knock Knock pulling in £250,825 in seventh, followed by the Michael Fassbender / Kodi Smit-McPhee western Slow West in tenth with £140,858.
