Tom Cruise’s latest outing as Ethan Hunt has now surpassed the lowest-grossing instalment in the series, Mission: Impossible III ($397.9 million) and will likely catch the $457.7 million made by the 1996 original in the coming weeks. It could still catch Mission: Impossible II ($546.4 million), although franchise leader Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol looks pretty safe with $694.7 million.
