Deadpool and Deadpool 2 star Morena Baccarin, who plays Wade Wilson’s fiancée Vanessa, says she hasn’t had talks or been approached about reprising her role in Deadpool 3.
In a recent discussion on EW’s Couch Surfing, Baccarin admitted that she is currently unaware on the status of Deadpool 3 except that the franchise writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese are still working on the script.
“I have no idea,” Baccarin said. “Apparently, they’re still writing it. I genuinely don’t know. I have not been asked, or approached. There’s been no conversations yet, so I’m waiting with bated breath.”
Baccarin continued to explain that she hopes her role will be “as big as possible” if the third film enters development but admits Ryan Reynolds “will always be the lead” and she “would love to be right by his side.
Although Baccarin starred in both Deadpool films, she had substantially less screen time in the second film after Vanessa was murdered by one of Wade’s targets in the opening sequence. Wade would later prevent her death with the use of a time-travel device stolen from Josh Brolin’s Cable.
Whether or not Deadpool 3 is entering production at Marvel Studios currently remains to be seen with conflicting reports from the star Ryan Reynolds and the character’s co-creator Rob Liefeld. According to Reynolds, he’s been having talks with Marvel over another Deadpool movie on numerous occasions while Liefeld has slammed the studio and stated that the Merc with a Mouth isn’t included in Marvel’s next five-year plan following Disney’s acquisition of Fox.
