Morten Tyldum to direct first episode of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan

January 8, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Amazon has found a director for the opening episode of its straight-to-drama series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan in Morten Tyldum, the Oscar-nominated helmer of The Imitation Game.

The 10-episode series will see John Krasinski taking on the role of Ryan, who will be portrayed as an up-and-coming CIA analyst thrust into a dangerous field assignment for the first time and “follows Ryan as he uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.”

In addition to Krasinski, the series stars Abbie Cornish as love interest Cathy Mueller. Dan Sackheim (The Americans) will serve as series producer, while Carlton Cuse, Graham Roland, Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Marcy Ross and Mace Neufeld executive produce.

Tyldum’s latest film Passengers is in cinemas now, and stars Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence.
